What is Anti-Fragile Fitness?
It is threefold.
It is a fitness that is indeed, anti-fragile, a fitness that is prepared for any scenario whether life-saving, self-defensive, rooted in max effort strength, or rooted in endurance.
It is a fitness that uses setbacks given to us by the forces of pressure and randomness, takes them for what they have to offer, and uses them to grow.
It is a fitness that is embodied as a praxis that goes beyond the body but is hellbent on altering one’s being with each session not only performed, but embodied.
Anti-fragility is a state of constant readiness of body, mind, and soul, renouncing preferences only in the name of effectiveness to never allow stagnation.
Miyamoto Musashi wrote of preferences in combat being fatal in the Book of Five Rings, and he was both one who embodied “the way” as he called it then. That way is one that is paradoxically ultimately predicated on detachment and self-denial to achieve true embodiment and mastery.
Fitness has been commandeered by men who seek to make it either more comfortable or more unnecessarily painful. Cults of fitness emerge where people place their identity in science, pain, or novelty. These are unnecessary.
There are methods that are hundreds of years old that remain relevant, and there are methods that will emerge in the coming years and have their place in the way of Anti-Fragile Fitness.
Anti-Fragile Fitness has provided training for men who seek to never break in the fields of combat sports, armed forces, and emergency response. While these fields will likely remain the core service of Anti-Fragile Fitness, the understanding of multiple attributes of physical preparedness will constantly balance within these specializations.
But these are not the only men who should seek to be anti-fragile. The parallels of difficult circumstances between many men’s lives are infinite, and the same principles of anti-fragility apply whether in fatherhood, entrepreneurship, mountaineering, or soldiering.
When one understands building max effort strength without exerting max effort, his hold on his life becomes tighter. When one understands that those who endure until the end will be saved, every run turns from monotonous to meaningful. When one understands that it takes a surge of power to alter the course of one’s life, every jump and sprint holds more life force.
Every man who commits to Anti-Fragile Fitness will indeed become stronger, bigger, faster, more powerful, longer-lasting, more flexible, and ironclad in resolve.
But what one truly gains it from it cuts deeper, and this can only be understood through experience.
Step into the void.
We’re waiting for you there.
